Evaluation Question 7

College Magazine
Music Magazine

Front Covers:
  • Through the use of photographs, you can see a difference between the preliminary task to the Music Magazine task, this was not just due to the better quality of SLR Camera, but completing tasks such as test shots improving my photography skills. The difference in the light and tinge of orange colour in my college magazine photograph in comparison to my music magazine highlights the planning that I did to take better quality photographs outdoors.
  •
  • The layout of my Music Magazine looks more professional, due to using guidelines allowing me to keep text, photographs neat also by using this it allowed me to use as much space on the page as possible leaving no space unlike my preliminary task. Using top and bottom bars also allowed me to add extra information, keeping the page to appear more busy and interesting.
  • The masthead on my Music Magazine yet again looks more professional and reflects a certain genre, I planned carefully and edited it so that it would stand out as its important and pulls the reader in. However in my College Magazine although I attempted to edit, it does not have that professionalism and stand out.
  • My layout out became more compact, I began using smaller font that you would find in magazines such as Q Magazine, also the barcode in my College Magazine is extremely large compared to my Music Magazine barcode. Also on my Music Magazine using a main story and a quote pulls the audience  in and gives that professionalism.
Contents Page:

College Magazine

  • I have improved alot with the layout on my Contents Page in comparrison to my College magazine, you can see this due to the the neat line my text is.
  • The font size on my Music Magazine Content Page is smaller and more information, looking more profesional.
  • The photographs also look more profesional due to planning and researching test shots aswell as using an SLR camera that is a better advantage of using a digital camera that I used for my College magazine photographs.
  • My Heading 'Contents' has improved and I used photoshop to experiment and create a more detailed and edit header for my Music Maga\ine, this was to reflect the genre of 'indie' and continue from my Front Cover.
  • I developed the idea of using a board behind the photographs, to create this montage of photographs that relate to some of the stories in the featured and everymonth, it also gave this page a busy feel and fun feeling attracting my target audience.
