14th December 2010 progress
Today I have decided the final photographs for my front cover does not work as the photo's are rather to dark, have a yellow tone due to the indoor lighting and some are rather blurred. However I'm going to re schedule and take another lot of photographs outdoors to produce better quality ones. Today I carried on the process of adding ideas to my 'front cover' and my 'contents page'

Research & Planning: final photographs
Mid long shot - the low lighting on the face creates a dim shadow.
Mid shot however there is a lot of lighting on the face.
Mid shot- the positioning of the camera is not very great.
Mid shot- this is a good photograph however there is a slightly blur to it.
Close up- this is a good photo however around the face there is a slight blur.
This mid long shot- is a creative photo that has the shadow of the body, also the brick wall creates this sense of creativity too.
Mid shot- very clear and well lighting, focusing on the face.
Close Up- this position of the camera is well used and the focus is well.

Research and Planning: Risk Assessment For photobooth photographs
Before the shooting for my final photographs for my front cover, It's always best to complete a production risk assessment, it reduces the risk of any hazards within the shooting:
There are many hazards that can occur for my photo shoot that need to be considered:
The audience and public
Being outdoors, you cannot control the public and environment, so therefore the best solution is to have an extra person with you to keep an eye out for any people who may interrupt the photo's. Also being indoors this problem can happen, its best to tell householders to not disturb whiles the photoshoot takes place.
Animals:
There is always a risk of animals if your outdoors, so yet again you may need an extra person to make sure nothing interrupts the shoot.
The weather:
Weather can be very unpredictable, this can cause allot of damage to the camera itself, also you have to take the models health into consideration. However this can disrupt their hair, make up and also the clothes of the models. So it's best if you research the weather a day or two before shooting to get an insight of what the weather may be like on the day.
Heights:
Working at a height can be dangerous in case somebody falls, therefore you should be careful. It would be an idea to have someone to give a help in hand and be there that would help in case of emergency.

I have decided I would like to use an album cover on my double page spread, therefore I thought I would like to research indie band album covers, I like the idea how they don't use and image but still its creative with the material and props used, These album covers have given me inspiration to create mind similar to the examples above.
Planning and Research- First draft of my double page spread interview.
The band 'Anonymous' hitting the weekly charts once again with their debut album 'fire strings' talks to Breakthrough about their success in life and an exclusive insight of what it’s like to be in the band.
Location- I met up with Bella, Steve and Craig at Starbucks coffee house, London.
Time- 11:30 AM.
Breakthrough: Hey Anonymous, how are you all?
Anonymous: Bella:(singer). Were doing fine thanks, just landed here in London, we flew in this afternoon to play a live show here later.
B: Oh right sounds good, did you all have an enjoyable flight?
A: Bella: Yeah, but the meals were awful, they should seriously think about chaining them, McDonald's would do just fine.
Steve (guitarist): It's true, fast food is the way forward on these planes.
B: You've all been very interested in music since you was little is that right?
A: Bella: Yes, me and my brother Craig used to perform little shows in the living room to mum and dad when we was younger, and used to perform in all the school talent shows constantly.
B: Do you have a usual warm up warm up routine before going on stage then?
A: Steve:(guitarist)Well me and Craig normally just sit backstage, have a bite to eat and a couple of drinks, have a friendly battle on the guitar hero, Bella usually hangs around with the stylists in the dressing room, girls!
Bella: eyy girls got to take pride of her appearance Steve! (laughs)
B: Sounds fun, your new album 'Fire Strings' was released the 3rd of May and has reached number one already in the album charts, how did you feel and how did you all celebrate?
A: Craig (drummer): (laughs) well.. we celebrated all right, family, friends and drinks what more could we ask for?
Steve: oh we felt ecstatic hearing news like that, makes what we do worth it hundred times more.
B: What's your favourite track on the album 'Fire Strings' if you had to choose?
A:
Bella : 'Open Eyes' the guitar solo, Indescribable
Steve : Its going to have to be ... 'creative mind'.
Craig : Mines also 'Open Eyes' the lyrics are great.
B: Who do you admire the most in the music industry, be personally or professionally?
A: Craig: Oh um..there is too many, but we all look up to rising star!
Bella: I remember I used to run around then living room dancing to their songs when I was young.
B: I know that you worked with Lucy Mores on your new album 'Bullet Brain' are you working with any other similar artists at the moment?
A: yeah we believe all artists we work with are very unique in their own way and we like to have a variety of different voices on the albums we make.
B: And lastley you toured France last summer, what did mischievous things did you lot get up to in your spare time?
A: (laughter) Steve: we did lots of fun things, the place is beautiful, we climbed the ifele tower, we eat lots and lots of grubby food and consumed way too much alcohol, it was a fun experience.
Bella: oh when we was on stage, the fans were great, you could really feel the atomsphere, were lucky to have fans who support us all around europe.
Breakthrough: sounds good, well it's being a pleasure talking to you, best wishes for the future.

- Changed the masthead, by adding drop shadow and used the skew tool to bring the text out and represent the words breakthrough as if its breaking through the page.
- I've also decided I am going to use a different image on the front cover, rather than a solo artist a band.
- The text in the middle, I'm using the convention colours through out the magazine, however used different text and size, so that certain words hook the reader in.

- Ive decided on my double page spread Ill be interviewing the artist about their music carer and their new album release.
- The photographs will be placed the top right corner of the page as a photo shoot, also near the writing a photo booth strip of photographs will be used, Ive decided to use this as Ive seen it in other magazine double page spreads.
Research & Planning: first draft contents page.
This is the first draft of my contents page for my music magazine, I have used some conventions from another music magazine 'Q' as its proffesional and attracts the similar audience I am doing. The layout ot the page is very simple, not clutured in text and images.

However will help me gain ideas throughout the production.

Research and Planning - Double Page Spread analysis,

NME Double Page Spread.
This double-page spread is from the music magazine NME, this seems like a informal interview with the band 'The Teenagers' I would expect it to be informal as they're quite young and NME magazine is a more layed back magazine.
The medium long shot of the boys from the band 'The Teenagers' , the image shows that the band seem relaxed nature within the interview, you can tell this through the body language of the boys which NME try to create. Place beneath the image is a 'Need To know' section, this will help the audience to have brief knowledge of the band, NME also is helping the band to become more known by giving a few facts about this unknown band. The columns structure are very simple and clear for the audience to read, in the middle of both columns a quote of the interview has being made noticeable to catch the readers attention, NME is most likely to choose the most interesting part of the interview so that the audience will want to carry on reading the whole column, also the font was made larger, bolder than the copy surrounding it, also the blue background colour creates it to stand out from the rest. The small mid shot image of the band on tour performing allows the reader get an inside image of how they are as a band, this is lay top of the second column.
The colours blue, white and black and bold font used is bright and seem cheerful, representing the band and the interview, suggesting that it's a more fun and not so serious interview . You can see this magazine targets a young audience especially this article, through the main image of the boys the setting of pictures of girls and the band name 'The Teenagers'
